Development of digital communication products as part of comprehensive outreach, advocacy and communication strategies. Design of visibility materials for social media, multi-stakeholder campaigns, websites, reports, knowledge products, newsletters, congresses, high-level summits and international days. All media products are part of communication strategies focused on storytelling and high-quality evergreen content as a way to build trustworthy brands and foster brand awareness. Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional Programme Communications and Visibility Strategy for UN Women

Strategy developed while working as Communications and Advocacy Specialist at UN Women Liaison Office to the African Union and UNECA. The Spotlight Initiative is a global, multi-year partnership between the European Union (EU) and the United Nations to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls by 2030. The communications and visibility strategy developed raised awareness of gender-based violence and harmful practices against women and girls in Africa. The strategy used several channels and outputs to ensure maximum visibility: press releases, press conferences, social media campaigns, human-impact stories, newsletters, video production, knowledge products and high-visibility events.

 

Achievements

Increased awareness of the European Union as the funding donor

• Successfully increased visibility and galvanized public opinion on different forms of violence against women and girls and its prevalence in Africa

• Published data and supportive facts to showcase key messages and results

Creatively messaged target audiences through innovative outlets and media products

• Ensured visibility for the Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional Programme donors and partners by coordinating consistent and coherent branding

Knowledge Product Dissemination Plan

Dissimination of the UN-EU Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional Programme (SIARP) Knowledge Product “Lessons Learned, Promising Practices and Challenges to Overcome”. The Communications Strategy developed provided a roadmap for amplifying the voices of UN beneficiaires by highlighting the programme’s promising practices and lessons learned on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG ) and girls in Africa.

 

Achievements

  • Successfully raised visibility of the knowledge product to stakeholders and partners

  • Results and lessons learned of the publication were used in future programming

  • Increased engagment on social media channels by creating innovative designs and messages

Act Now - United Nations campaign

ActNow is the United Nations campaign for individual action on climate change and sustainability. Work develop while working with the Portuguese Desk at the United Nations Regional Information Centre (UNRIC) in Brussels.

 

Achievements

Increased Instagram target audience from 2,600 to 12,600 followers and Facebook target audience from 10,000 to 16,000 followers in six months by creating engaging content and successful organic campaigns. Strategy used to Boost Organic Social Media Reach: Audience targeting to maximize organic potential; Social media optimization; Creation of high-quality evergreen content; Cross-channel promotion and daily interaction with followers through creative and impactful stories and posts.
